Perr&Knight CEO Tim Perr addresses operational complexity
How to Build a More Resilient Business
One of the things I've learned in my 40 years in the insurance business is that organizations tend to dramatically underestimate the complexity of their own operations. What begins as a spreadsheet becomes five spreadsheets. An email process becomes ten email processes. Inevitably, what starts as a simple workflow becomes dependent on a handful of people that everyone is afraid to lose.
Eventually, you've built a system. It just isn't the one that you intended to build.
Today, many organizations find themselves at a crossroads with respect to their product management and rate filing processes. Some are waiting for SERFF modernization. Others are planning to build something internally. Still others are managing through a collection of ad hoc or single point solutions that have accumulated over many years.
I would simply caution against defining the problem too narrowly.
This isn't a filings problem. It isn't a product development problem. It isn't a compliance problem. It's an operational problem.
The real question is how will your organization manage knowledge, processes, data, collaboration, governance, and technology over the next decade.
Building internally can absolutely work. But what you're really committing to isn't building software. You're committing to continuously maintaining integrations, documentation, security models, workflows, AI capabilities, and the hundreds of enhancements that will inevitably be requested by your users. You're committing to solving tomorrow's problems before you even know what they are. And you're accepting that much of that knowledge will live with a relatively small number of people inside your organization.
At PK1Cloud, we made a different decision. Every enhancement requested by one customer becomes an idea that benefits all of our customers. Every integration we maintain is one our customers don't have to maintain. Every process we institutionalize removes another single point of dependency. Every investment we make in AI, automation, and innovation is shared across an entire community of users.
Technology changes quickly. Operational complexity only grows. In my experience, the organizations that are most successful aren't the ones building the most software. They're the ones building the most resilient businesses.
As we move through 2026, I'm excited to share another update on the progress of PK1Cloud. In our first newsletter, we introduced our vision for a modern, cloud-based platform that transforms how insurers manage product development, regulatory filings, and compliance. This quarter, I'm pleased to share how that vision is becoming reality.
Our team has continued to deliver meaningful enhancements that improve efficiency, increase flexibility, and help our customers work smarter. From Filings Segmentation capabilities and streamlined Transmittals to Product Configurable Workspaces and Workflows, and the integration of AI-powered intelligence into Filings through our partnership with Pythia, every enhancement has been designed with one goal in mind: making complex regulatory and product management processes simpler and more effective.
What makes me most proud isn't just the technology we've built, but the way we've built it. Our product roadmap continues to be shaped by conversations with our customers, industry experts, and the talented professionals who use PK1Cloud every day. Your feedback drives our priorities and ensures we're delivering solutions that address real-world challenges.
Innovation doesn't stop with what we've released this quarter. As you read through this newsletter, you'll also get a preview of what's coming in Q3, along with a look at what we'll be showcasing at AICP. We're excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to continuing to partner with you as the platform evolves.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We hope you enjoy this edition of the PK1Cloud Quarterly Newsletter, and we look forward to continuing to innovate together.
Segmentation Built for Enterprise Insurance Operations
As insurance organizations grow through acquisitions, expand into new markets, and diversify their product offerings, managing regulatory filings becomes increasingly complex. Different teams are responsible for different companies, product lines, and jurisdictions, yet leadership still needs a single, enterprise-wide view of regulatory activity.
That's why we're excited to introduce Segmentation in PK1Cloud Filings.
Segmentation gives organizations precise control over what each user can access across the platform. Administrators can configure segments based on business-specific criteria — including company, state, product, line of business, and more — without requiring custom development. Users can quickly switch between their authorized views, while searches, reports, notifications, and exports automatically reflect the active segment.
The result is a single system of record that supports both enterprise oversight and team-level focus. Executives and compliance leaders can monitor activity across the entire organization, while individual users see only the filings relevant to their responsibilities.
With Segmentation, PK1Cloud Filings eliminates the need to sacrifice visibility for security. Large insurance organizations can simplify operations, improve governance, and gain a comprehensive view of their regulatory landscape, all within a single platform designed for the way modern insurers operate.
No two organizations manage product development the same way. Different teams, business units, and product lines often have unique processes, workflows, and approval requirements. That's why PK1Cloud Product continues to evolve with greater flexibility and administrative control.
Our new Configurable Workspaces capability empowers administrators to create, manage, and customize workspace templates that reflect the way their organization operates. Whether building a new workspace from scratch or leveraging an existing template, administrators can quickly configure standardized environments that promote consistency across teams.
To protect active workspaces while maintaining flexibility, template assignment locks prevent structural changes once a template is in use, while still allowing administrators to make routine updates when needed. Enhanced validation and improved template management also help ensure consistency and reduce administrative effort.
These enhancements extend beyond administration. Every workspace now faithfully reflects its assigned template, including work item statuses, ordering, and visual indicators, giving users a consistent experience from project to project.
With Configurable Workspaces, PK1Cloud Product gives organizations the flexibility to tailor their product development process while maintaining the governance, consistency, and scalability required to support enterprise operations.
Regulatory filings often require more than forms and supporting documentation. Many states also require transmittals — documents that explain the purpose of a filing, communicate key information to regulators, or satisfy state-specific submission requirements. Locating these documents manually can be time-consuming, especially when filing across multiple jurisdictions with varying requirements.
PK1Cloud Transmittals simplifies this process by helping organizations quickly find, generate, and manage the transmittals required for state-specific filings. By leveraging information already maintained within PK1Cloud, users can efficiently produce transmittals that support state filing requirements while reducing manual effort.
The result is a more streamlined filing process that allows regulatory teams to spend less time locating supporting documentation and preparing transmittals, and more time managing filings and responding to regulatory needs.
Innovation doesn't stop with our Q2 releases. As we look ahead to Q3, we're preparing to introduce several exciting new capabilities that continue to advance the PK1Cloud platform. Attendees at AICP will get an exclusive preview of what's next.
Here's a glimpse of what we'll be showcasing:
Integrated Product & Filings — Bringing PK1Cloud Product and PK1Cloud Filings together to create a seamless workflow from product development through regulatory submission.
Pythia Pre-Submission Check — The first capability resulting from our partnership with Pythia, using AI to analyze filing packages before submission and help identify potential issues that could improve filing quality and reduce revisions.
Contributor Portal — A new collaboration hub that centralizes manual and automated to-dos, streamlines communication, and provides a complete audit trail throughout the product management lifecycle.
AI Form Parsing for Product — Leveraging artificial intelligence to simplify the capture and organization of form information, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency.
Enhanced Forms Templates — New capabilities designed to accelerate filing preparation and make regulatory submissions faster and more consistent.
Redesigned Filings Experience — Featuring redesigned pages that deliver a modern user experience with enhanced usability, making it easier and more intuitive for users to navigate and manage their work.
These initiatives reflect our continued commitment to delivering an intelligent, connected platform that helps insurers simplify product development, streamline regulatory compliance, and improve collaboration across their organizations.
If you'll be attending AICP, we invite you to visit the PK1Cloud team for a firsthand look at these upcoming innovations. We're excited to share what's next and hear your feedback as we continue building the future of insurance technology.
